(please note that a minimum of two entries per category are required in order for a trophy to be awarded)
There will be four award ceremonies each day. The first mid morning, the second just before lunch, the third mid afternoon, and the last at the end of the day.
Medals
In 2009 Rock The Floor dance championships started issuing 2.5in medals instead of ribbons for all regular award ceremonies. We've continued with this tradition as medals are better received by both competitors and schools alike over a ribbon award. All medals are gold with a blue neck ribbon. Gloss mylars with the appropriate level is issued on the medal to represent the level of the mark issued. Each medal will be labeled with a "Gold", "Diamond", or "Champion" on it to signify the mark category.
A 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbon will be issued however,(where applicable), in each level of competition along with a 2.5in medal.
Competitor Performance awards
Starting in the 2010 season Rock The Floor dance championshiops did away with all paper certificate awards opting to give out trophies instead. This was better received by competitors as a 10 in "Oscar trophy" given as recognition for a performance over and above what was expected was better than a paper award. We have since increased the number of Oscar presentations per event from 8 to 10 for the 2011 season.
Teacher Choreography awards
In 2011 Rock The Floor dance championships also instituted 10 new choreography awards to be handed out from the judges for what they felt was outstanding choreography on behalf of teachers. These awards are special 16in. trophy cups.
Sponsored Awards
Be Discovered has been sponsoring the Rock The Floor dance championships for the past 5 years now. This year we have $5000.00 worth of awards being handed out from the judges for outstanding performances. The staff at RTF would like to wish everyone the best of luck in winning these prizes.
